This comforter from Deny Designs is alright, maybe overpriced. It comes in a very plain, unbranded zippered plastic bag. There's some barcode stickers and stuff on it, but not a label or branding of any kind so maybe not the most attractive packaging, and would not look nice as a gift. Getting past that though, inside the clear plastic bag you get the comforter and 2 pillow cases. It's all soft and comfortable. I'll admit that when I saw the pattern through the bag, I thought it looked boring, but when I take it out and actually set it up on my bed it looks nice. This is a good lightweight comforter with an interesting design, but I think the asking price is a bit much and the packaging is lacking.I’ve been using the same comforter on my bed for years, it seems, so I was happy to try the Deny Designs Cotton Comforter, which comes with a couple of matching pillowcases as well. (It’s not really clear in the description that the pillowcases are included, so they were a nice surprise bonus!)I liked the comforter right out of its shipping box. The "Herringbone in Indigo" pattern is cute, and the coordinating pillowcases have the same pattern, just smaller. So it’s obvious they match, but it’s a little fun that they don’t match exactly. And the reverse side of the comforter is white, so if I ever get temporarily tired of the side with the print, I can flip it over for a change. The color is a little more purple in some lights than I expected, more than blue. But as I think about it, indigo IS between blue and purple on the color spectrum, so it actually kind of makes sense!The comforter and pillowcases were a little scratchy right out of their nice zippered clear plastic storage container, so I washed them, and then dried them on low, and that took care of that. I’m quite happy with how they feel now. And I love that they are cotton, and so they breathe.There are only two minor issues with this set. First, the comforter is pretty light. I live in Southern California, so this is going to be fine for me year-round. And I tend to sleep pretty warm, so I like a light weight comforter. But if I lived in a colder climate, I think I’d probably need an additional blanket with this during the winter. And second, it seems a bit small for a queen size. I have a full-size (standard) mattress, and so I was expecting the comforter to be a little oversized on my bed, and it’s not. I think it would still work on a queen, but might not provide a lot of extra coverage, so to speak. So you might go up a size when ordering if you like your comforter to run big.All-in-all though, aside from the two caveats above, this is really nice lightweight cotton comforter with matching pillowcases. And finally, please note that I received this set as part of Amazon’s Vine Voice review program.This comforter is magic!! I was not expecting anything remarkable when I got this, because it's a comforter & like... what really can one expect? But somehow this is infused with some kind of sorcery & it's my new favorite blanket ever!First off, I like the pattern. I wasn't sure at first about it, but I have grown to like it. It looks like watercolor brush strokes.Second off, I am a Sweaty Betty at night & always have been. I am constantly hot when I am sleeping but I also can't sleep comfortably without a blanket of some kind over me. This creates problems. I always have a fan pointed on me while I sleep & adjust the heating/AC as needed to make my bedroom an icebox. And yet, i still end up sweaty, no matter how lightweight my blanket is. I have been using this comforter for the past week or so & I haven't woken up in a pool of sweat that whole time!Third off, it's so light! I don't really know how to explain it. It isn't just lightweight, where you still notice you have a blanket on you, it's like it isn't even on you. Like some kind of magical space blanket that is floating above you and not touching you even though it is. I am not explaining this well at all, but that is because it is the oddest but somehow the best sensation ever.Fourth off, my cat loves it. This cat never ever sleeps on my bed or hangs out on it. He is a pretty anxious cat & he is terrified of me about 50% of the time because everything scares him. So he doesn't hang out on my bed since he prefers to nap in more tucked away locations like his kitty cubby hole or tucked into his cat bed on the floor in the corner. But since I got this comforter, I have found him chilling out on my bed every day. He even made a little sleeping cave out of it & took a little rest. This blanket has used its witchcraft to lure my skittish, nervous kitty into its gentle comfort and if that isn't a good enough review point, I don't know what is!This is a very very nice blanket. If you are a hot sleeper or a very anxious cat, you will not regret purchasing this!When I opened the box I was surprised due to two things. First off in how purple this comforter looked. While the description mentioned indigo, the images did seem more of a great, though this seems to be a stong purple under certain lighting. I was also pleasantly satisfied by the addition of the two matching pillow cases to compliment the comforter.While one side of both the comforter and pillow cases bears the pattern the other side is plain white. The comforter fit nicely over my bed with extra length on both sides and the end of the bed to allow me to tuck it in. What I noticed was that the comforter itself felt a little stiff right out of the bag (as did the pillow cases) so I may run it through the washing machine to see if it softens it up (as I did wash the pillow cases already and they do feel softer)As this is a lighter comforter I look forward to using this the last days of summer or even as an additional layer during the winter over my other blanket.The comforter's design looks great but it feels a little like plastic and could take some getting used to. This comforter would come in handy for hot summer days because it does not get too hot. In saying this, alternatively in cold days, it can take some time before you heat up underneath this blanket. Not a fan of the material overall.
